DFHBI is cell-permeable and can be used for in vitro and live cell detection of RNA provided with a DFHBI-specific RNA sequence (DFHBI aptamer) such as Spinach, Spinach2 or Broccoli.[1-3] Fluorescence is activated upon binding to a matching aptamer sequence: Spinach/DFHBI complex[1]:, Exc.max: 469 nm / Em.max: 501 nm / ɛmax: 24271 M-1 cm-1 Spinach2/DFHBI complex[2]: Exc.max: 447 nm / Em.max: 501 nm / ɛmax: 22000 M-1 cm-1
